Important Note for General Holidays 2023

The following holidays are not included on this list: Uttarayana Punyakala, Makara Sankranti Festival, Basava Jayanthi/Akshaya Tritiya, Naraka Chaturdashi, Makara Chaturdashi Day, Makara Sankranti Day, Makara Chaturdashi Day, Naraka Chaturdashi Day, Naraka Chaturdashi Day, Naraka Chaturdashi Day, Naraka Chaturdashi Day, Naraka Chaturdashi Day,

On recognized holidays, all state government offices will be closed. Nevertheless, department heads will need to establish plans for finishing urgent tasks. Members of the Muslim Fraternity who work for the government may be given a holiday on the day of observation, taking into account the holidays that have previously been announced, if any of the Muslim Fraternity festivals do not take place on the scheduled date.

For the occasions of Kail Muhuruth on Sunday, September 3, 2023; Tula Sankramana on Wednesday, October 18, 2023; and Hurthi Festival on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, a local holiday has been proclaimed for the Kodagu District. A separate list of holidays will be released by the Education Department’s Commissioner of Public Instructions.

State Government Employees may take up to two restricted holidays in addition to the General Holidays in 2023 with the previous approval of the appropriate authority issuing Casual Leave.

Additionally, the Karnataka state government has a list of prohibited holidays for its personnel. These days off are observed so that the staff can take a break from their regular schedule and get some much-needed rest. In Karnataka, 2023, some of the limited holidays for state government workers are Guru Purnima (July 11), Raksha Bandhan (August 21), and Dussehra (October 19th). The following dates are not included in this Annexure: November Year (01.01.2023), Devara Dasimayya Jayanthi (26.03.2023), Vishwakarma Jayanthi (17.09.2023), Christmas Eve (24.12.2023), and Holy Saturday (08.04.2023), which falls on the second Saturday after Devara Dasimayya Jayanthi.

This list does not include Swarna Gowri Vrata (18.09.2023) Monday, which is a General Holiday for Varasiddhi Vinavaka Vrata, or Souramana Ugadi (14.04.2023) Friday, which is a General Holiday due to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanthi. It also does not include Ananta Padmanabha Vrata (28.09.2023) Thursday, which is a General Holiday for Eid-Mil

Bank Holidays in Karnataka 2023

A list of bank holidays that are observed throughout the year is also available for Karnataka. To offer banks and their staff a respite from their regular schedules, certain holidays are honored. In 2023, Karnataka will observe bank holidays for Good Friday (April 2), Eid-ul-Fitr (May 13), Ganesh Chaturthi (August 11), and Christmas (December 25th). The following holidays are not included on this list: Uttarayana Punyakala, Makara Sankranti Festival (15.01.2023), Basava Jayanthi/Akshaya Tritiya (23.04.2023), Naraka Chaturdashi (12.11.2023) on Sundays, Mahalaya Amavasya (14.10.2023) on the second Saturday, Khutub-E-Ramzan (22.04.2023), and Maharshi Valmiki Jayanthi (28.10.2023) on the 4th Saturday.

For the purpose of closing accounts held by commercial banks and cooperative banks, a holiday has been declared for April 1, 2023. Only in the Kodagu District, local holidays are to be commemorated in honor of Kail Muhuruth on Sunday, September 3, 2023; Tula Sankramana on Wednesday, October 18, 2023; and the Huttari Festival on Sunday, November 28, 2023. (Tuesday).
